Alex Sanderson - My background

I have been taking photographs for nearly forty years, having started as a teenager with a Pentax K1000. Today I use a Nikon Z8, a Nikon D850 and a Leica-M. I also use an iPhone as a readily available camera when I am out and about.

The focus of my photography has principally been on all things automotive, with a particular passion for classic and vintage cars. I also enjoy photographing landscapes and flora/fauna and extend occasionally into travel and street photography. I have lived extensively overseas during my life, which has also helped shape my perspective on the World and my photography, stimulated by the different environments I have experienced.

My passion for motorsports has driven my interest in automotive photography. Initially in the 1980s this was photographing motor rallying in Kielder and the English/Scottish borders. In the last twenty years this has more encompassed photographing classic and vintage cars, much based around the motor events at Goodwood. Apart from the ‘standard’ journalistic style of photographing cars, I have also sought to develop a more abstract style of photographing classic cars, based principally around the use of speed, light and colour to highlight their design shape and form, looking from different angles.

I publish automotive photographs regularly on Instagram and Facebook (@superchargedclassics) and most of my images are for sale, either through my print shop or by specific request. My images have been republished by car owners, teams, manufacturers, magazines/online media and other industry related organisations. I also undertake specific commissions for individual images to be used in specific displays. A range of my images also are for sale as “art cards” directly and through shops, including Petworth Bookshop. I personally edit and print all my own work to the highest exhibitions standards.

I am a member of the Independent Goodwood Photographers Guild.
